Food Allergies

Are you allergic to certain foods?

A true food allergy gives sudden, unmistakable and potentially dangerous responses in the body. However, many people have food intolerances. Responses by the body in this case is often delayed from 1 hour to several days after the offending food has been eaten and so makes identifying the culprit yourself very hard.

Food intolerance is linked with a wide range of symptoms. These are often chronic and involve many organ systems. They can include symptoms such as arthritis, fatigue, weight gain, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, migraine, eczema and many more.

Often the culprit food is one that is eaten often and even craved. The most common foods that people react to are cows milk, wheat, yeast and alcohol. For testing you can have a simple pinprick of blood taken from the finger and sent to YORKtesting Laboratories for analysis. A result is produced within 10 working days.

You can check for food intolerances yourself by avoiding totally a suspected food for two weeks then re-introducing it and noting the response, or you can have an allergy test

Even with foods that you react negatively to, these may eventually be re-introduced back into the diet after a period of avoidance without causing any problems.
